    StyleAID: Recession be damned
    Written by Gavin McGuren

Bigger, brighter and more stylish than ever, StyleAID has cemented its position as Western Australia’s premier fashion event and continues to nurture the State’s remarkable emerging talent.

The organisers of StyleAID have declared war on the recession we now apparently have to have. As inspired Italian designer Elsa Schiaparelli once said, “In difficult times fashion is always outrageous,” and she should know as she lived through all of the most difficult times of the 20th century. According to coordinator Mark Reid, WA fashion’s night of nights will do it’s best to prove Elsa was right.

Bigger, brighter and more stylish than ever, StyleAID has cemented its position as Western Australia’s premier fashion event and continues to nurture the State’s remarkable emerging talent. The major fundraiser for the WA AIDS Council is in its 12 year, and this time around the theme is WOW: White On White.

“With the Perth fashion scene exploding over the past 12 years, StyleAID is the only event Western Australians get the opportunity to see that features top local designers fresh from Rosemount Australia Fashion Week.” Mark Reid said.

“Each year we bring the best and brightest fashion design talent to the catwalk.  This is the chance for the fashion industry of Perth to step up and support the vital work of the WA AIDS Council and for guests to see all that is great about West Australian fashion.”

This year there are 21 established and emerging designers: Aurelio Costarella, Ae'lkemi, Ruth Tarvydas, Stand, SU , Antipodium, S2, Alister Yiap, Carly Hunter, One Fell Swoop, United Construction, Flannel, Empire Rose, Love In Tokyo, Panache, Mandi Mac, Almond Tree, Paper Skye, Lady Lascivious, Garth Cook and 2Wink underwear for that extra touch of sexy male hotness.

Tickets for WOW are on sale now and cost $200 this year, with tables of ten. StyleAID has sold out every year since it was first launched, so be warned that if you procrastinate you will find yourself on a lengthy list of people waiting for a small handful of cancellations. StyleAID is one event where “tickets selling fast” actually means something. Book through WAAC on 08 9482 0000.
